When I was working on a book at Steidl last winter, I saw a very good mock up for a book by a photographer I’d never heard of. The work stayed with me. It turns out that the photographer is Christopher Morris and the book, My America, is now out. He also has a show at Hasted Hunt.

Christopher Morris is a great photographer and I should be getting his book in the mail soon. The website link to his name isn’t right though. That’s a different photographer named Christopher Morris! The Christopher Morris your talking about works can be viewed http://www.viiphoto.com

Thanks for catching that Justin. By the way, the link on your name doesn’t seem to work. http://www.justinvela.com , right?

Yep, thanks for catching that. Forgot the .com bit. Website exactness…

Again…when the page loaded it put my website automatically in the form as I posted before. Should have double checked.

Thanks for the link, loved the quote on Steidl’s website.
“Hopefully,” Morris says, “you will see what I saw and feel what I felt—a nation that has wrapped its eyes so tightly in red, white, and blue that it has gone blind. This is ‘My America’.”

Brought me great joy to know I made it onto your “Other Artist Blog.” Hopefully you will enjoy the book.

Congrats on the book and show Christopher. I hope our paths cross someday (Maybe at the Magnum vs. VII softball game?)

VII can only field 10 players, while Magnum has a very deep bench….

Sure, we have depth, but a lot of our players have become managers. VII has youth. Maybe we should do another trade. The Anderson / Richards blockbuster seems to have been a success for both clubs.

Loved Gene coming on board…. Hated losing Chris….
But can they play softball….

Justin Vela, Thank you for pointing out that I’m the Christopher Morris from VII and not the Christopher Morris.com from Canada….
thanks……

Cheers!

Hi Chris,
Awesome book! I got a copy of it last week, I really enjoyed it. I like the half-people pictures. Good eye…
